ABOUT US

Beenleigh Theatre Group (BTG) is a vibrant, volunteer-driven community theatre based at Crete Street Theatre in Beenleigh, Queensland. Founded in 1978, it produces a mix of classic and contemporary main-stage musicals, plays and youth programs.

THE OPPORTUNITY

We are thrilled to announce we are seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from passionate directors and creatives for our upcoming 2027 Season!

Our season slots include:

Slot 1 – February 2027 (Auditions approx. Oct/Nov 2026)
Slot 2 – April 2027 (Auditions approx. Jan/Feb 2027)
Slot 3 – June 2027 (Auditions approx. Feb/Mar 2027)
Slot 4 – September 2027 (Auditions approx. Jun 2027** rehearsal period can be affected by hires)
Slot 5 – November/December 2027 (Auditions Aug 2027)

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for proposals of both plays and musicals that are;

– Audience engaging and entertaining
– Provide inclusive casting and audience accessibility across race, gender, sexuality and age range
– Productions which have available rights in QLD Australia
– Driven by passionate creatives who seek to add something to the community

For our 2027 season we will prioritise comedy or farce play scripts.

WHAT WE ARE NOT LOOKING FOR

Professional productions, new musicals, cabarets or tours (please email programming@beenleightheatregroup.com to discuss our Fringe Season).
Productions with the expectation of haze or smoke use.
Productions which require use of the fly tower to raise a person.

NEXT STEPS

After we receive your submission, we will be organising interviews to meet with you to discuss your proposal further. Interviews will be held August 2026. Please let us know if you are unavailable for these dates when we reach out so we can make alternative plans for you.

Part 4: Terms & Declarations

Beenleigh Theatre Group (BTG) enforces policies centred around community safety, inclusivity, and operational compliance. As part of our lease agreement and insurances, we require all creatives, cast, crew, and volunteers to hold an active membership ($10).

If you are submitting a production/s for a show that requires performers under the age of 18, all cast, crew, creatives and volunteers over 18 MUST have a valid and up to date blue card. It is free to sign up as a volunteer.
