2018 Festival of One-Act Plays

Beenleigh Theatre Group proudly hosts the Beenleigh One Act Play Festival on the first weekend of August every year. Entrants travel from across South-East Queensland to perform youth, open and ten-minute plays for adjudication. Awards are presented on the Sunday afternoon of the festival. BTG members attend the festival free, others can enjoy 4-5 plays per session for a very reasonable admission. If you are interested in entering a play you are invited to download the Info and Entry documents from this page. The festival needs the sponsorship of local businesses and friends of the theatre – if you can help contact Festival Coordinator Roslyn Johnson email irnjohno@tpg.com.au.

Curtains

We’re drawing back the ‘Curtains’ to showcase our second show for 2018!

It’s the brassy, bright, and promising year of 1959. Boston’s Colonial Theatre is host to the opening night performance of a new musical. When the leading lady mysteriously dies on stage the entire cast & crew are suspects. Enter a local detective, who just happens to be a musical theatre fan!

Directed by Andrew Cockroft Penman, with Musical Direction by Julie Whiting and Choreography by Jackson Kook.

Summer of the Seventeenth Doll

Beenleigh Theatre Group is proud to present the timeless Australian classic ‘Summer of the Seventeenth Doll’ by Ray Lawler as their third production of the season.

For the past sixteen summers, Roo and Barney have been making the journey from cutting cane up North to spent their long layoff season with Olive and Nancy. Coming into the seventeenth summer the timeless nature of these yearly affairs seems to be taking it’s toll.
